Pictured above are the eight papers in use at Chromatech. They are very high quality papers made specifically for high-quality giclée printing.
Pictured above:
- Hahnemühle German Etching 310 is my favourite paper, it has a wonderful velvet texture similar to a watercolour paper with a mid-white colour.
- Permajet Alpha Natural 310 is smooth and 'natural' coloured - it does not have OBA* in the coating and it's great for botanical art.
- Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 is smoother than German Etching but more textured than Alpha Natural. It is fractionally whiter than German Etching and considerably whiter than Permajet Alpha Natural 310.
- Fotospeed Smooth Cotton 300 is a smooth white matte paper, great for photographs, with a matte finish.
- Hahnemühle Baryta 325 is a heavy-weight bright white paper for photo printing. The Baryta layer makes the colours really 'pop', and gives very black blacks. It has a slightly shiny surface. It is only available in sizes up to A2.
- Fotospeed Platinum Etching 285 is another OBA* free paper, giving a natural colour to the paper base, it might be fractionally warmer in colour to the Permajet Alpha Natural.
- Fotospeed Cotton Etching 305 is a very bright white paper that gives bright clear colours. It has a slight texture that adds interest to the print. It's great for digital artwork and photographs.
- Fotospeed Xpressions Smooth 300 is a white, very smooth paper that works very well with all types of imagery. Although its a 300gsm paper, it feels like a lighter paper.
*OBA is short for Optical Brightening Agent
